"In everything you do, put God first;
he will direct and crown your efforts with success."
proverbs 3:6

This verse of the bible has been the foundation for Jim Sheldon and putting God first ministry. It's a verse that speaks of the promise of God in Jim's life as long as his priority of “putting God first” stays at the forefront of this ministry.

Jim stated, “after I repented and got my life straight with Jesus, I immediately started praying, seeking what God wanted me to do. i joined my first quartet, solid rock iii singing bass, not long after that. I felt right at home and thoroughly enjoyed my time there! but, I wanted to be sure this was God’s path for me. I didn't want to start down the wrong path like I had done before in my life.”

It was at this time that God highlighted proverbs 3:6 to Jim. It was from that point forward that Jim totally surrendered his future plans to God.

Jim spent almost 20 years working jobs that wouldn’t conflict with a singing schedule. During that time, Jim honed his craft, spending six incredible summers studying at the Charles Novell school of music.

“there were many times when disappointment and frustration drove me to quit, but God would always open a new door for me,” recalled Jim.

one such door was opened for Jim when he was given the opportunity to sing with the Keetons (founded by gold city tenor Dan Keeton).

“Dan Keeton took a chance on me,” mentioned Jim. “He hired me to sing baritone for his group. under dan’s wings, God brought fine tuning to the training, hard work and experiences that would be required of me to start a solo ministry.”

After Dan disbanded the Keeton to take a position with gold city, Jim decided that rather than sit at home and wait for another group to call, he would take a step of faith and establish a solo ministry. putting God first ministry was born at that time.

Jim exclaimed, “God has totally taken charge of this ministry since the release of my recording of his grace.”

Jim’s hard work paid off with the signing of a new recording contract with homeland inspiration group’s Mont eagle records and first-ever charting single – “God is looking at my heart.” his debut album for Mont eagle records, i belong to Jesus, released in the fall of 2011.

“I firmly believe that living by proverbs 3:6 has helped me stay focused on what’s really important in this life – putting God first,” recounted Jim. "I'm able to go anywhere, anytime. just like the proverb says, if I stay focused on him, he will guide my steps!”
